ATLANTA -- Top Drawer is a fundraising effort by IKEA that brings the best students artists from from SCAD, The Art Institute of Atlanta, GA State, and ATC to design/decorate a one-of-a-kind IKEA 3-drawer TARVA dresser that will be raffled for charity. This year, 100% of the proceeds benefited Devereux Georgia, a non-profit organization licensed to serve children ages 8-21 who are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges brought on by abuse, neglect, mental illness, sexual exploitation, or intellectual/developmental disabilities.

In additions to the dressers decorated by the students, local and internationally renowned artists James Randall ChumbleyLeroy Campbell, and Son of The Moon designed dressers that were auctioned live at the event.

The dresser gallery was showcased in the IKEA store until July 29 for customers to see and purchase raffle tickets.  IKEAS's goal was to raise $10,000+ of which 100% will benefit children in need.

Maggie Lopez of Zeitgeist ARTifacts, Inc. was the curator of the event, while Christine Pullara, Atlanta & Co/11 Alive/WXIA served as the emcee. The 2013 judges for the event were: Pat Lottier, Atlanta Tribune; Jennifer Brett, Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Lydia Felix, Designs by Lydia; and Tammie Reed, Talking with Tammie.

“At IKEA Atlanta, we want to be a good business partner and help to make a difference in our community.  The people at Devereux already have a tremendous impact on the lives of many children in Georgia.  We want to support Devereux in these efforts to improve children’s lives, and we are convinced that the Top Drawer event will help Devereux continue to make a real difference in our community,” said Jim Anastos, store manager at IKEA Atlanta.

TOP DRAWER is possible due to the in-kind sponsors that have partnered with IKEA & Devereux Georgia to make it happen.

Event cocktails was provided by Bombay Sapphire, and event photography was by IMAGEZ PHOTOGRAPHY.
