Atlanta's ‘BEST WORLD MUSIC ACT’ Salutes Men on Father's Day

ATLANTA -- You have seen them on NBC television network reality series “America’s Got Talent” and if you are a reality-show junkie, you remember them sharing  their high-energy dance experience with singer/songwriter Kandi Burruss and Attorney Phaedra Parks in connection with their travels to South Africa on BRAVO cable network top-rated reality series “Real Housewives of Atlanta”.

Now, the 19-year Atlanta-based ensemble GIWAYEN MATA, is going  to bring their ‘contagious’ high energy drum and dance to the Southwest Arts Center for Father's Day. Between educating audiences about African traditions and breaking barriers as an all-sistah ensemble in a male dominated percussion industry, its no wonder Creative Loafing Magazine named them "Best Local World Music Act" three times!

MODA Floors & Interiors Participates in Bedroom Makeover

MODA Floors & Interiors served as a sponsor for the annual Agape Bedroom Makeover project. The Agape Community Center, a non-profit organization, provides a variety of programs and services for residents of all ages in the Bolton Road community in Northwest Atlanta.

The MODA Floors & Interiors team patched and painted the walls, replaced the carpet and purchased furniture and bedding for the four children. MODA interior designer Theresa Minkoff decorated the room based on what the kids described as their "dream bedroom."

In addition to MODA staff, painters and carpenters supplied by Sawhorse Remodeling participated in the bedroom makeover project.

"You've given these children an incredible gift," said Jared Sulc, Agape's development assistant. "You're helping Agape to empower and support economically disadvantaged families within the community to embrace their full potential."

Knight joined APD in 2005, working as a patrol officer downtown and in Midtown. Last year, the Connecticut native joined the Community Liaison Unit.
