Residents with formalwear collecting dust in the closet urged to donate
The Housing Authority of Fulton County (HAFC) and the Resident Advisory Board (RAB) are sponsoring the 3rd Annual Prom Closet Program. HAFC is seeking donations of gently used and clean prom/formal dresses and tuxedoes of all sizes for high school seniors graduating in May 2012. The donated formal wear will allow young men and women without the financial resources to purchase a tuxedo or dress to choose a free outfit with accessories. Priority will be given to Housing Authority of Fulton County residents.
Items needed for the Prom Closet include:
- formal dresses (gently used)
- Accessories (bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc.)
Formalwear and accessories can be dropped off at the Housing Authority at 4273 Wendell Drive, Atlanta, GA 30336. Drop-off hours are Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. until Friday, April 20, 2012.
The Prom Dress Giveaway Program is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the HAFC.
The HAFC is seeking applicants for the 2012 dress giveaway. Qualifying high school seniors selected to receive a dress or tuxedo will have a “shopping day” to select their formal outfits and accessories.
The 2012 Prom Closet requires student applicants to attend two self-esteem awareness workshops. The first workshop was held on March 29, 2012. The second Workshop will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012. The discussion topics will include goal setting, applying for scholarships, leadership development and unleashing your talent.
To participate, all applicants must meet the following requirements:
- High School Senior
- Graduating in May 2012
- Provide school identification
- Provide a high school transcript
