Teenage girl shot, wounded in NW Atlanta

ATLANTA (WXIA) -- A 14-year-old girl was shot and wounded at a home in northwest Atlanta Friday evening.

It happened at a home in the 600 block of McAfee Street. Police said the girl was visiting a friend, and while there, someone upstairs in the home fired a single round which struck her in the shoulder.

She was transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston. Her mother told 11Alive that the bullet entered the girl's shoulder and caused her to have collapsed lungs. She was still hospitalized on Saturday.

Police said gun was being cleaned it went off accidentally. Corey Graham has been charged with reckless conduct, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's cousin arrested in Atlanta

ATLANTA – The cousin of Bobbi Kristina Brown was arrested after a traffic stop early Monday in Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police, an officer pulled over Jerod Wallace Brown-Carter, 27, on Howell Mill Road around 2 a.m. after the officer said he detected "the odor of marijuana" emitting from the GMC Yukon Brown was driving.

When asked by the officer if there was any marijuana in the vehicle, the driver responded, "No, but we just came from the studio."

The driver told the officer that he had a Georgia license, but didn't have it on him. He said his name was Jahraim Wallace Reid. Officers later determined that his name was actually Jerod Wallace Brown-Carter, he was not licensed and had an outstanding warrant out of Gwinnett County.

Brown was arrested on charges of driving while unlicensed and false representations to police.

ATLANTA – One person was arrested after crashing a stolen car into a church in Atlanta on Wednesday.

According to Officer Ralph Woolfork of the Atlanta Police Department, the carjacking happened at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Westlake Avenue. The suspect fled the location.

A Clark Atlanta University police officer spotted the suspect, who then tried to flee and crashed into a church on Atlanta Student Movement Blvd. SW.

The suspect was taken into custody, Woolfork said. He was identified as 22-year-old Damian Jones.

Jones is charged with possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault, hijacking of a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property in the second degree and theft by receiving stolen property.

Suspect charged in Georgia Tech robberies

ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech Police have arrested the man accused of robbing a student inside the school's business college.

Quevos Talley was taken into custody Monday. Investigators believe he is the armed man who took a student's backpack in the atrium of the Scheller College of Business on Jan. 5.

Police said Talley is also accused of stealing two laptops from the business college in December.

Talley has been charged with two counts of burglary and one count each of armed robbery, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Atlanta Police, MARTA Police, the FBI and Crime Stoppers helped Georgia Tech Police track down and arrest Talley.

"This was a great example of collaboration with multiple agencies to affect an arrest," Georgia Tech Police Chief Rob Connolly said in a statement.

Person in critical condition after Atlantic Station shooting

ATLANTA (WXIA) – Atlanta Police were investigating a Monday evening shooting at the Twelve Hotel, which is at the intersection of 17th Street and Atlantic Drive in Atlantic Station.

One person was reported shot and was being treated by Grady EMS crews. Police said the individual was reported to be in critical condition.

According to Atlantic Station management, the victim likely knew the shooting suspect. They went on to say that police have a suspect in custody in the shooting.

No other injuries were reported.

Atlanta Police searching for sexual assault suspects

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are searching for the men accused of sexually assaulting a teenager at a party.

The crime happened Jan. 20 at a house in northwest Atlanta. Police said three men attacked the 15-year-old victim as she celebrated her birthday.

A sketch artist created composites of the suspects. One is a black man with dreadlocks who is known only as Jamie. Investigators believe Jamie is about 16 years old. Another suspect, who is known as Reckless, is about 17 years old and has a tattoo on the right side of his neck. The third suspect is a bald black man with the number 20 tattooed on the left side of his neck.

The suspects are known to frequent southwest Atlanta's Pittsburgh neighborhood.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Atlanta Police at 404-546-5605 or Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS. Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
