Northwest Atlanta SWAT situation ends peacefully

ATLANTA -- An overnight SWAT situation in northwest Atlanta ended with one man's arrest.

The incident began at around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Atlanta Police officers patrolling the area spotted a known convicted felon who was carrying a weapon.

When the man saw the officers, he dropped the gun and ran into a house, police said.

The man refused to leave the house, forcing police to call in a SWAT team. At around 2 a.m., SWAT officers finally persuaded the man to turn himself in.

No one was injured in the incident. The man's name was not released. Police said a second person was inside the house; there was no immediate word on whether that person will face charges.
