ATLANTA -- Atlanta Police are investigating two separate shootings on the west side of the city.

The first shooting happened at around 11:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of St. James Drive and Lookout Avenue.

Atlanta Police Lt. Charles Hampton said officers responded to a call of shots fired and found a Honda sedan with the windshield broken from bullets.

One man was inside the car, slumped over the steering wheel. Hampton said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he was driving the Honda.

Investigators have not yet named any suspects or provided a motive for the shooting.

The second incident happened at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at a house in the 2000 block of Verbena Street.

The victim told police two suspects tried to rob him, then shot him in the thigh when he refused to give them money.

Atlanta Police Capt. Jonathan Durant said the victim was alert and conscious when investigators arrived, and is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.

The victim described his attackers as two men wearing masks. Police have not yet made any arrests.
