Community meeting discusses concerns after studio shooting | News
ATLANTA (WXIA) – Plans are in place for two very different events Tuesday evening, both centered on the same tragic incident.
Up-and-coming rapper Bankroll Fresh was gunned down outside Street Exec Studios in northwest Atlanta Friday night.
Early Friday evening, a candlelight vigil for him is being held at Blue Ivory Lounge in southwest Atlanta. At the same time, community members will gather at the Defoor Centre on Defoor Avenue to discuss their security concerns.
This is not the first time the Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association has met to express their concerns about Street Exec Studios.
In fact, several months ago, the group met with owners of the studio, and at that point, expressed their concern about noise, crime and gunfire. Residents say the situation had improved in recent months, but after Friday night’s tragedy, concerns have been stoked once again, which is what brings about Tuesday evening’s meeting.
Tuesday afternoon, in a statement, neighborhood association president Kristen Olsen said, “We are very worried about the safety and quality of life problems the studio has brought to our neighborhood.”
It is not clear if owners of the studio will be present at the meeting, but Atlanta Police said they will attend, as will representatives of the Atlanta City Council.
